There may be a thread like this already but i didn't see it. I just was wondering what other people are using theirs for?

For me, i am a teacher and i don't drive. My office at work is a monitor that i just hook my laptop to. My mini pc is now hooked up to the monitor so i don't have to carry my laptop with me all the time on the bus.

Its only been a few weeks so far but it seems to be working as a good stand in for just writing google docs and updating grade books online.

How about you? Is it hooked up to the tv? Is it moving toward being a desktop replacement for simple tasks? Maybe a work tool?

Interesting use you're making of yours. I suspect you're in the minority in terms of using it more for a PC replacement than an entertainment device. Mine is hooked up to my TV. The TV is a few years old but very good, so adding my MK808B provides me with more options than a smart TV would. Among my main uses are displaying my photos on the TV from a flash drive or card reader, and watching TV shows from Australia and the UK, to which I wouldn't otherwise have access, via xbmc. I'm also using it to watch tutorials or other videos on youtube, which is more comfortable in front of the TV than the PC.

I'm just new to the whole mini PC front.
However I've always been interested in a low power pc to use from my off grid cottage.
Being a developer and Home automation buff I created a windows program for Home Automation (AlertDialer) which used would connect to a PC from any phone.
this controlled lights and appliances via voice or touch tone input (key presses)
Since then I've developed a few others all windows based programs. the flag ship now being Pc Companion (PCC)
About a year ago I started developing an android app T.A.C. (Tuicemen's Android Companion) http://tuicemen.com/tac/
This is available free on Google https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=TAC.TuicemenAndroidCompanion&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIlRBQy5UdWljZW1lbkFuZHJvaWRDb21wYW5pb24iXQ..
However with all the options Google states it isn't compatible with the mini PC.
It does however work on one just has limited functions.
This interfaces with PC Companion from anywhere via wifi
Currently I'm just using my mini PC as a client Home automation app in my home running T.A.C.
I plan to expand the development of T.A.C. to work better on one of these devices.
For more info on TAC, PCC or any of my other software you can visit my forum
I'd love to hear ideas from users here.
