Just curious if the MK 808 is capable of running Linux from an external source like an sd card or usb via otg? I don't see why it wouldn't be as some of the older models are.

Good question norcal, I've heard this model doesn't run Linux, yet, which is weird since the Mk does..I will test it and find a working solution.

Hi Max,

Just checking if you've made any headway on getting linux to run on the MK808. This would make for a inexpensive desktop replacement!

PS - The forum is great.

I've been searching and searching for a solution for Linux on the mk808. From what I understand the kernel code for rockchip had not been made available and that is what is stopping devs from being able to compile a Linux image for the mk808. I'm hoping this will be remedied because I would love to have a Linux machine in my living room, on my big screen, from the comfort of my couch.

A port of Linux has now been developed for the MK808 and the UG802. You can read about it and get it via this thread

Got picuntu to boot, but won't accept the password. Well, progress of a sort.
