Hi Everyone,

I got my MK808 a few weeks back, and since I got it I have found some solutions to help it work better, and less annoying.

The annoying onscreen keyboard can be disabled. To do so, go to settings, then apps, then all programs, click Android on screen keyboard (AOSP) and select disable. This will permanently remove the onscreen keyboard from showing up again. Note though, if you are using the stock rom, it is possible for a Japanse one to show up at some point and that cannot be disabled. So once you do this, never go back to Languages in Settings, and hope for the best.

Other apps I disable are:

- SMSPush (You cannot send text messages, so it is a running process that does not need to run)
- VoiceSearch (Since it does not have a Mic or Mic Jack it is pretty pointless using it. Do not disable if you use USB Mic)
- Email (You do not need this for Gmail, or Hotmail apps. No webmail services use this)
- Exchange server (Same as above)
- Google Search (I do all my searches from a webpage so I do not use this. This is another process that you do not need to run. Gets rid of the annoying magnifying glass on the home pages too. If you use the magnifying glass (Play store is different) then keep it)
- Google Text to Speech (only keep if you want an annoying voice bugging you all the time)
- Search (another one which you do not need, and I do not know where this one links to, but everything works fine without it).
- Sound Recorder (Hard to record sound on the MK808, so I disable this one)
- Sound Search for Google Play (Err - I do not use this one, and since you cannot record sound, or use a mic seems useless)
- Talk (If you use Google talk keep it, if not then disable it)
- TalkBack (I think this is related to talk)

(Note that: Bluetooth, Mobile Data, and Mobile Network Config cannot be disabled)

Others you may have (I am doing this from memory as I use the Finless 1.4 at the moment. So if some sound a little different, I apologize)

- Google Remote (Good luck controlling your TV with the MK808, So I disabled it on mine)
- Gesture builder (hard to do without a touchscreen, and very unreliable with a mouse, so I would disable this too)

China Crap (There are numerous ones of these, so anything that has a character than I do not understand, I disable it too)

**** I DO NOT TRUST RUNNING CHINESE APPS THAT ARE NOT PART OF ANDROID, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE EMAIL PASSWORDS, BANK INFO OR ANY OTHER IMPORTANT DATA ****

- PVTV (err, I would disable it)
- ????? (An app with Chinese characters)
- VPLAYER (Name maybe a little different)
- Maybe others (if you are not sure, search for it on the net, or message me)
- King Office ( This is also one that I disable, but may be OK)

By disabling the above apps, my system run much faster, especially when running many apps. As I said above, I also do not trust running unknown Chinese apps that are not required by android. Let me know if you have any issues, Simon

Why use another app and resources when you can just disabled it?

I don't know if it is only me but another annoying thing is the Voice search. I do disable it from the (Settings/Language and Input), but it keeps turning on by itself. Any suggestions or?

I was worried when installing this app that it was suggested that it could log all keystrokes including passwords and account details.

This one not for me security risk I think

I agree, just disable aosp in settings..

My MK808 came from the supplier with a 9/20 installed and not rooted, but the option to turn off the onscreen keypad is grayed out so I can not see anyway to turn it off.
