will power up with power supplied to either the power usb or the OTG connection. An unpowered USB hub can be connected to the main USB port during this boot process.

if the USB hub is powered, and connected (or left connected to) the MK808, then the MK808 will not boot (no power light on).
The USB hub maybe supplying power to the MK808, as disconnection of the power from the power usb causes the machine to switch off BUT the blue light stays on, reconnection of power to the power usb does nothing.
If the power to the USB hub is cut whilst in this state, the blue light goes off, but does not reappear when the USB hub is repowered. Reconnection of power to the power USB leaves the blue light off.

It seems then that the MK808 is designed? to be powered in fixed order
1) apply power to the mini power usb port
2) connect the powered USB hub (or power to the hub) and connect USB to PC(if required)
3) connection to the HDMI can be left

THIS MEANS THAT DURING BOOT, THERE IS A TIME WHEN THE MINI POWER PORT IS SUPPLYING ALL THE POWER TO THE USB DEVICES. Not advisable if you have a hard drive connected

to unpower
1) remove USB connection to PC from the OTG port (if connected)
2) remove power from the mini power port and then the USB hub

other queries about booting
seems that if i boot up with a USBmouse attached, response is slow. relocate to another port on the unpowered USB hub, FIXED

normal connections are:
power mini usb power from PC USB
OTG USB connection to PC
main USB USB hub with keyboard, mouse and air mouse. Camera and mic to add

MK808 has OS version 4.1.1
kernel 3.0.8+ ifwang_v_300j1#10 SMP PREEMPT Fri Oct 26 08:59:55 CST 2012
build no mk808_300j1_27-10-2012

Can anyone give some guidance on how to correctly power the 808, power up and close down. Also the oddities about the USB ports. this version of the firmware does not seem to announce it's presence onto the USB.
