Hello everyone. After much consideration, I decided to finally take the plunge and buy one of these mini Android PC's. As the post title says, I bought the MX1 and ordered it through Geekbuying's website. They seem to be a well-known and reputable dealer, so I hope I'm not proven wrong! It's being shipped to Canada, and I will post again when it arrives to let everyone know how long it took and whether it works!

Yeah they seem like they are pretty popular...but I think I realize now that their shipping is very slow. Many people have said that and I ordered the Mnix Neo G4 on Dec 3rd and It was shipped on the 5th but there is not update on the tracking info. since the Dec 6th. I hope I get it very soon.

I am an Amazon Prime member & purchased the MX1 there from Geekbuying.com. Got it in 2 days. Very happy with it however I initiallly used the HDMI cable & got lines on the screen in 1080P display mode. I now have it plugged directly into my Onkyo 606 receiver with no issues in 1080P. There is a new firmware updaye from Geekbuyint that allows hiding of the status bar. However if I am on the home screen it gets wierd & does not blend in leaving mouse pointers allover where the bar was. But if I am in any other screen it does hide well & works with no pointer traces left behind. Another notable feature of the update is an off button on the status bar that allows soft off.

Ok, this may be a dumb question since I haven't received my MX1 yet, but now that it has a soft power-off option, how do you turn it on? Do you have to unplug and re-attach the power?

Update: My MX1 arrived on 24th Dec, so from the time I ordered it, it took 16 days to get to Canada, which seems about right for free shipping.

I spent a good part of the day playing with it, and mostly was relieved that it worked. As expected, the biggest issue is that the wifi is absolutely terrible. I had frequent drop-outs every 30 seconds or so, which made any kind of internet-related activity pretty much unbearable. I decided to try the 1080p ROM that geekbuying linked, which is also the same one that Rivers recently made a video about.

I am not familiar at all with Android. Today was my first time ever using it for more than 5 minutes. Installing the new ROM was an absolute nightmare. Between trying to decipher/translate geekbuying's instructions and tips provided by other users, I nearly gave up in frustration. I kept at it, though, and managed to install the new ROM successfully. The updated ROM is supposed to improve the wifi, in addition to providing true 1080p output. The bad news is that the wifi is now worse than before. I also tried playing some 720p video that I saved to the SD card, and the video would pause every 30 seconds or so, which was disappointing.

So I'm happy that the unit arrived, and it works, but it's painfully obvious that I will need to do a lot more poking around to make it usable.
